NICARAGUA

The first week of October, Jason went with a group of men from FBC Irving to help build homes for pastors in a rural village of Nicaragua.  This was a men's only trip...why?  Because modesty wasn't high on the priority list (bathing in the river for a week), and they were told to check for tarantulas before taking a seat in the outhouse.  Getting to the village wasn't an easy task either, but after several plane trips and hours of driving through dirt roads, the men set up their mosquito nets and cots.

It was worth the inconvenience.

God blessed their efforts ten fold.  The pastor's family has a place to live, and the Gospel continues to be spread throughout Nicaragua.  Jason later told stories of the intense heat and humidity of the rainy season...the limited menu and giant insects that took over their sleeping quarters - but even with hundreds of Nicaraguan ants crawling in his pants pockets and nibbling at his ankles, God reminded Jason of His generosity.

The Lord has blessed us beyond what we need, and certainly beyond what we deserve.  Our men were able to come home at the end of that week, but the stories that make us cringe are everyday life for the villagers.  Their needs are both physical and spiritual!  Please, when you remember, pray for these families and God's work in Nicaragua.

  1. Jason, thank you for all you and the men in your church do to spread God's love!
