PENSACOLA!!!

Beautiful PENSACOLA, FLORIDA!!!

Hannah's parents met us for an unbelievable week at the beach in late March.  Usually I stray from excessive explanation and allow our photos to do the talking, but this blissful week deserves a little elaboration...

Early mornings through breathtaking sunsets, Jason logged plenty of fishing hours :)  And since fishing requires very little supervision and can be accomplished on shore, Jason could simultaneously scour the beach for shells, build (then smash) sand castles, or just soak in the sun with the family all while waiting for the big one to bite :) ...it was truly the best of all worlds.  In the end he trapped sand fleas, the world's smallest flounder, a blue crab...even a sea turtle!  And God's ugliest fish, Sheepshead (see picture of the nasty, toothed fish below).

While the temperature first left us thrifting for scarves and warm jackets, bathing suit season finally arrived our last couple of days in Pensacola.  And although the sand may have warmed, the water did NOT.  However, we braved the frigid ocean for a little adventure...and boy, did it pay off :)  While kayaking past the sandbar we cruised within 6 feet of a pod of dolphins!!!  And once our legs grew numb, we kicked up dozens of prized shells INCLUDING 5 INTACT sand dollars!

Fun wasn't limited to the beach...we also explored the dark tunnels of Fort Pickens where Geronimo was imprisoned!  Played tennis (endeavored to play) at the Portofino courts (THANK YOU, LINDSEY FAMILY), and spent a sweet night over a shrimp boil with precious friends :) (we love you, Andersons :) )

Judah played himself into a coma each night, while Paisley cuddled her Honey and PeePaw :)
It's amazing how you can have so much fun with such simplicity.  Man-made entertainment is a constant  battle of improvement...we quickly outgrow what once thrilled us.  But the beach??  God built it to perfection in one draft :)  And we reveled in this picture of His glory all week long!
